The national federation then appointed Japan's Taka Minowa as head coach, and the team began a new training cycle with regional competitions and the Asian Games build-up in mind. Men's team

The men's team gained valuable experience when the Philippines hosted the 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship in Manila, where it won a match against Egypt in front of home crowds. Imagine a match against a stronger Asian team with these made-up prices: Philippines to win 6.00, opponent 1.12; Philippines +1.5 sets at 2.60; Philippines +2.5 sets at 1.45.

• Match winner: implied 16.7 and 89.3 percent, total 106.0, so a margin of about 6 percent. Fair chance for the Philippines: about 15.7 percent.
• +1.5 sets at 2.60 implies about 38.5 percent before margin that the Philippines wins at least two sets.
• +2.5 sets at 1.45 implies about 69 percent that the Philippines wins at least one set.

Now compare with recent matches against similar opponents. If Alas has taken at least one set in most of its recent losses to teams of this level, 69 percent may be about right. If it was swept in most of them, the +2.5 line is overpriced. This is how you turn "Laban Pilipinas" into an actual assessment.

Total points sa international matches

Totals depend on the number of sets. A lopsided 0-3 might produce well under 140 combined points, while a five-setter can exceed 200. Against much stronger opponents, a sweep is a real possibility, which pulls the expected total down.
