MLBB Odds Explained: How to Read Mobile Legends Betting Odds

If you've opened an esports sportsbook and seen numbers like 1.45, 2.70, −1.5 and O 2.5 next to an MPL match, this page is for you. Mobile Legends odds work like any other sport's odds, but the markets are built around maps, drafts and objectives, which takes a little getting used to.

Odds formats you'll see

Most sportsbooks used by Filipino players show decimal odds by default, but you can usually switch formats in settings.

Decimal is the easiest: multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return, stake included.

Implied probability: what the odds really say

Every price hides a probability. For decimal odds, it's 1 ÷ odds.

This is also your break-even win rate. Backing a team at 1.45 only makes sense if you think it wins more than 69% of the time.

The bookmaker's margin

Add the implied probabilities of both sides. For a match priced 1.45 / 2.70, that's 69.0% + 37.0% = 106.0%. The extra 6% is the bookmaker's margin. Esports markets often carry higher margins than major football or basketball, and props carry more than main markets. To get a "fair" estimate, divide each implied probability by the total: 69.0 ÷ 1.06 ≈ 65.1% and 37.0 ÷ 1.06 ≈ 34.9%.

The main MLBB markets and how their odds work

Match (series) winner

Who wins the whole series: Bo3, Bo5 or Bo7. This is the headline price. In a Bo3, a favourite at 1.45 implies about 65% after margin. Remember longer series make favourites stronger, so the same team will usually be shorter in a Bo7 Grand Final than in a Bo3.

Map winner

Who wins a specific map (Game 1, Game 2, and so on). Map prices are closer to even than series prices, because a single game is more random. A team at 1.45 to win the series might be about 1.65 to win Game 1.

Map handicap

Adds or subtracts maps. In a Bo3:

• −1.5 maps: the team must win 2-0.
• +1.5 maps: the team wins the bet if it takes at least one map.

In a Bo5, you'll also see −2.5 (must win 3-0) and +2.5 (must win at least one map). Handicap odds are usually longer for the favourite and shorter for the underdog than the match prices.

Total maps

Over/Under 2.5 maps in a Bo3 is simply "will it go to a third map?" Over wins on a 2-1 either way; Under wins on a 2-0 either way. In a Bo5, totals of 3.5 and 4.5 maps are common.

Total kills and kill handicap

Per map, books offer a line on combined kills (for example Over/Under 24.5) and sometimes a kill handicap (Team A −4.5 kills). These depend heavily on draft style and team aggression.

Duration

Will a map last over or under a time, such as 15:30? Early-game drafts tend to end fast; late-game scaling drafts tend to run longer.

Objective props

First blood, first turtle, first lord, first tower destroyed. These are usually priced near even money with extra margin, and are highly random.

Outrights

Tournament winner, such as the MPL PH champion or the M-Series winner. Outright odds are long and margins are high; all teams' implied probabilities often add up to well over 100%.

Worked examples in pesos

Series winner

₱500 on Team A at 1.45. Team A wins 2-1. Return: ₱725 (₱225 profit).

Map handicap

₱300 on Team B +1.5 maps at 1.70. Team B loses 1-2. Return: ₱510 (₱210 profit). Team B lost the series but took a map.

Total maps

₱200 on Over 2.5 maps at 2.10. Series ends 2-0. You lose ₱200.

Total kills

₱100 on Over 24.5 kills in Game 1 at 1.85. Game 1 finishes 18-11 (29 kills). Return: ₱185.

From map odds to series odds

If you estimate a team's chance of winning any one map, you can convert it into series and handicap probabilities. With a per-map chance p (assuming maps are independent):

So if you rate a team at 60% per map, a fair series price is about 1.54, a fair −1.5 price about 2.78, and a fair Over 2.5 maps price about 2.08. Compare these with the book's numbers to see whether a bet looks good, bad or neutral.

Bo5 and Bo7 handicaps

Playoff series use longer formats, which opens up more handicap and total lines:

In a Bo7 Grand Final, the same logic extends to −1.5, −2.5 and −3.5 maps, and totals of 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5. These lines suit specific views, such as "the favourite wins, but the underdog takes at least two maps."

Why MLBB odds move

• Roster news: a substitute in the gold lane or jungle can move a line a lot.
• Patches: meta shifts change which teams are strong.
• Money: heavy betting on popular teams can shorten their price.
• Drafts (live): after pick-and-ban, live odds for that map update based on compositions.
• In-game events (live): kills, turtles, lords and towers all move live prices.

Live MLBB odds

During a map, odds can swing dramatically after a team fight or a lord take. Markets suspend often, and stream delays mean the bookmaker sees events before you do. Prices between maps are more stable and give you time to think. If you're new, avoid mid-map betting entirely.

Common misunderstandings

• "Low odds mean a safe bet." A 1.20 favourite still loses about one in six times if priced fairly, and upsets happen.
• "High odds mean value." Long odds only offer value if the true chance is higher than the implied chance.
• Confusing map and series markets. "Team A 1.65" might be for Game 1 only.
• Forgetting about margin. Props and outrights usually cost you more than main markets.
• Ignoring settlement rules. If a map is remade or a match is forfeited, check how your book settles it.

A quick routine for reading any MLBB line

1. Check the market label: series, map, handicap, total or prop?
2. Convert the price to implied probability.
3. Remove the margin to estimate the bookmaker's fair view.
4. Compare with your own estimate, based on form, patch and roster.
5. Bet only if your estimate is clearly higher, with a small, fixed stake.

Settlement quirks

Esports have some unusual situations: remakes after technical issues, forfeits, or disconnections. Many books settle based on the official result announced by the organiser, while some void markets affected by a remake. Read your sportsbook's esports rules, especially for first blood and duration markets, which a remake can reset.
