is stake legit in the philippines - padlock security

Legit ba ang Stake para sa mga Pinoy? Short answer: Stake is a real, licensed and very large crypto casino and sportsbook, and the Philippines isn't on its list of banned countries. But "legit" and "legal sa Pilipinas" are two different questions, and the gap between them is where Filipino players get burned.

Pare, this page separates the two. We read Stake's own terms of service, checked its licence on the Curaçao register, and looked at how deposits and withdrawals work from here after the e-wallet gambling ban. You'll get the good, the risky and the fine print, so you can decide for yourself.

The short version

"Legit" vs "legal": two different questions

When people search "is Stake legit", they usually mean one of three things:

  1. Is it a real, licensed business that pays winners? For Stake, mostly yes.
  2. Is it allowed by Philippine law? No. It isn't licensed here, and only PAGCOR-licensed operators and a few other franchise holders can legally offer online gambling to people in the Philippines.
  3. Will I get in trouble for playing? Philippine enforcement has focused on operators, payment channels and advertisers rather than individual players, but that's not a guarantee, and it doesn't change the fact that you're playing outside the local system.

Keep all three in mind. A site can be honest and still be offshore, and an offshore site can be fine for years until a payment route or domain gets blocked. Our page on whether offshore betting sites are legal in the Philippines goes deeper on the law.

Stake's licence, explained

Who runs it

Stake's terms say that when you register on stake.com, your contract is with Medium Rare N.V. That company holds licence OGL/2024/1451/0918 from the Curaçao Gaming Authority, the regulator that took over licensing after Curaçao rewrote its gaming law. The licence is listed as active on the CGA register, and you can reach the certificate from the seal at the bottom of Stake's site.

What the licence does and doesn't do for you

A Curaçao licence means Stake has to meet that regulator's rules on things like anti-money laundering checks, fair games and complaint handling. Stake's terms describe a two-step complaints process: you first email its support team within six months of the problem, and it must acknowledge your complaint in writing within a week. If you're not happy with its final answer, you can take the dispute to CADRE B.V., an independent dispute service certified by the Curaçao Gaming Authority.

What the licence doesn't do is make Stake legal in the Philippines or give you access to a Philippine regulator. PAGCOR can't order Stake to pay you, and Philippine courts would be a hard route against a company in Curaçao.

How to check the licence yourself

Don't take any review's word for it, including ours. It takes two minutes:

  1. Open stake.com by typing the address, then scroll to the very bottom of the page.
  2. Find the Curaçao Gaming Authority seal and tap it. It should open a certificate page on the regulator's own domain, not a picture or a page on stake.com.
  3. Check that the company name reads Medium Rare N.V., the licence number matches OGL/2024/1451/0918, and the status shows as valid or active.
  4. Check that the domain you're on is listed on the certificate. A copycat site can paste the seal image, but it can't make the regulator's page list its domain.

If the seal doesn't click through, opens a page on a strange domain, or shows another company name, you're not on the real site.

Isn't Stake "PAGCOR-approved"?

No. You may see Facebook pages or "agent" groups claiming Stake is accredited by PAGCOR. That isn't true. PAGCOR ended all offshore gaming licences in December 2024, and Stake doesn't appear as a Philippine licensee. Anyone using a PAGCOR logo to sell you Stake credits is a red flag, not a reassurance. Our guide to spotting a legit online casino shows how to check claims like this.

Is the Philippines a restricted country on Stake?

Section 14.3 of Stake's terms lists the "Prohibited Jurisdictions" whose residents can't use the service. As of our latest check, the list includes Afghanistan, Alberta, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Ontario, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and others. The Philippines is not on it.

Two other clauses matter just as much:

So Stake doesn't block the Philippines, but it also puts the legal question back on you. And if you're ever outside the country, say working in a restricted place, don't log in with a VPN to keep playing. That's one of the fastest ways to get an account closed with the balance held.

What Stake offers Filipino players

Sportsbook

Stake has a full sportsbook with live betting on basketball, football, boxing, MMA, tennis and dozens of other sports, plus a large esports section. For Pinoy bettors that covers the NBA, international basketball and big fights. Coverage of local leagues like the PBA and UAAP varies, so check the specific market before you deposit for it.

Casino and Stake Originals

The casino lists thousands of slots and live tables, and Stake is famous for its in-house "Originals" such as Dice, Plinko, Crash, Limbo and Mines. These are fast games with provably fair results. Stake's terms also say it can adjust the house edge on slots at its discretion and that the in-game RTP display should be checked with support if it doesn't match, which is worth knowing if you care about returns.

Promotions

Stake's terms mention promotions such as races, reloads, coupons and rakeback, and third-party reviews describe a VIP ladder with weekly and monthly rewards. Offers shown to you depend on your account and region, and Stake says it can withdraw any promotion at any time and cancels unclaimed bonuses after 60 days or the claiming period, whichever is shorter.

Deposits from the Philippines

Crypto is the realistic route

Stake's terms say you can deposit from crypto wallets you control or through other payment methods available on the site, and that payment options differ by country. For Filipino players, crypto is the most dependable path because local e-wallets can no longer link to gambling sites.

A typical USDT deposit looks like this:

  1. Buy USDT in GCash's GCrypto, in Maya, or on a local exchange such as Coins.ph or PDAX.
  2. On Stake, open the wallet, pick USDT and choose the network. TRC20 and BEP20 are usually the cheapest to send on.
  3. Copy the deposit address and send a small test amount from your wallet first.
  4. Once it lands, send the rest.

Our step-by-step on depositing to a crypto casino with GCash walks through the screens, and this page explains what to do if you pick the wrong network.

Why GCash and Maya don't connect directly

In August 2025 the BSP ordered e-wallets to remove links to online gambling from their apps. That means no "Pay with GCash" button inside Stake that runs through an official GCash link. If someone offers to load your Stake account from their GCash, they're an informal middleman, and if they disappear with your money there's nothing you can do.

Rules on whose money you can use

Stake's terms are strict about ownership. Deposits must come from payment methods and wallets that belong to you. If Stake finds third-party payment methods, it can close the account and forfeit deposits and winnings. In practice: don't use your cousin's wallet, don't buy "Stake balance" from a seller, and don't let a friend deposit for you.

Withdrawals: what Stake's terms say

This is the part most Filipino players skip, and it's where most complaints start.

RuleWhat it means for you
Wager 100% of each deposit before withdrawing (sections 8.5 and 8.10)Deposit ₱5,000 worth of USDT and you must place at least ₱5,000 in bets before you can cash out.
Identity must be verified before a withdrawal is paid (8.1)Expect KYC, especially for larger amounts. Do it early.
Withdraw to an account in your own name (8.1, 8.6)No sending winnings to a friend's wallet.
Same method as the deposit, where possible (8.3)If you deposited in USDT, expect to withdraw in USDT.
Stake can investigate and delay payments (8.2)It doesn't have to explain why while a review is open.
Multiple pending withdrawals can be rejected (8.8)Make one withdrawal request, not five small ones.

None of these are unusual for an offshore casino, and they exist mainly to stop money laundering and bonus abuse. But they explain why a "Stake won't pay me" story usually turns out to be an unverified account, a deposit that wasn't wagered, or a payment method in someone else's name.

Worked example: a ₱5,000 first session

Here's how the rules play out on a realistic first deposit, so nothing surprises you:

Doing this once with a small amount, before you ever deposit more, tells you exactly how long each step takes and what it costs.

How fast are crypto payouts?

Once an account is verified and in good standing, players commonly report crypto withdrawals landing quickly, often within the hour, though the network you choose and any manual review affect timing. Treat fast payouts as typical, not guaranteed. If a withdrawal is pending for longer than usual, check your verification status first, then contact support through the live chat inside your account.

From Stake back to pesos

Withdraw USDT to your own wallet or exchange, then sell it for pesos and cash out to your bank or e-wallet. Our guide on withdrawing USDT to GCash shows the cheapest way to do that, including which networks keep fees low.

KYC and account rules that trip people up

Stake's terms give it the right to ask for any KYC document at any time and to restrict play, deposits or withdrawals until it's satisfied. A few rules catch Filipino players more than others:

Scams that use Stake's name in the Philippines

Because Stake is a famous brand, its name gets borrowed a lot. Watch for these:

Green flags and red flags at a glance

Green flagRed flag
You typed stake.com yourself and the licence seal opens the regulator's pageYou arrived through a link in a Facebook group or Telegram chat
You deposit from your own crypto walletAn "agent" asks you to send GCash to a personal number
Support answers through live chat inside your logged-in account"Support" contacts you first by text or Messenger
A withdrawal is held because KYC is pendingSomeone asks for a fee to "release" your withdrawal
Bonus terms are shown in your account before you opt inA seller offers a "guaranteed bonus" or a pre-verified account

Responsible gaming on Stake

Stake's terms treat problem gambling seriously on paper. You confirm when you sign up that you aren't self-excluded from any gambling site or venue, and you're required to tell Stake if you sign a self-exclusion agreement with another operator. Stake can also close an account if it has concerns that a player is a compulsive gambler.

Don't wait for the site to step in. Look in your account settings for deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion, and set them on your first day while you're calm. A limit you set before a losing streak is far easier to keep than one you try to set during it. Our guide to responsible gambling covers practical habits that work on any site.

Pros and cons for Filipino players

ProsCons

Crypto deposits and withdrawals, usually quick once verified100% deposit wagering before any withdrawal
Independent dispute route through CADREDisputes are handled under Curaçao law, far from home
Big sportsbook, esports section and provably fair OriginalsLocal league coverage like the PBA can be thin
Two-factor authentication availableStrict account rules: one account, own funds, no VPN

Stake or Cloudbet?

If you're comparing crypto sites, Cloudbet is the option we feature on BetGabay. It's also an offshore site with a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence (OGL/2024/328/0599), so the same legal caveats apply. The differences are in the details:

Read our full Cloudbet review and our check on whether Cloudbet is legit if you want to compare the two properly.

How to play on an offshore site more safely

  1. Start small. Deposit a test amount, bet it, and do a test withdrawal before you add more.
  2. Verify early. Upload your ID before you win, not after.
  3. Turn on two-factor authentication. Stake's terms recommend it, and it stops most account takeovers.
  4. Keep the balance low. Withdraw winnings regularly instead of leaving them on the site.
  5. Keep records. Screenshot deposits, withdrawals and support chats. You'll need them if you ever file a complaint.
  6. Stay within the rules. One account, your own wallet, no VPN.

Verdict

Pare, Stake is legit in the sense that matters to most people: it's a real, licensed company that runs a huge casino and sportsbook and pays verified players. It is not legal in the Philippine sense, because it holds no PAGCOR licence, and that means no local safety net if a dispute goes badly. Its terms are fair but strict: verify your account, wager your deposit before withdrawing, use only your own money, and never hide your location.

If you go offshore at all, go in with small amounts, crypto you understand, and your eyes open. And if you'd rather have clearer withdrawal rules and a no-grind welcome package, take a look at Cloudbet.

Play responsibly

You must be at least 21 to gamble in the Philippines. Set a weekly budget, use deposit limits and cool-off tools, and walk away when the budget is gone. If betting is affecting your money, work or family, call the National Problem Gambling Hotline at (02) 8248-9568. It's free and confidential.

Mga Madalas Itanong (FAQ)

Is Stake legit in the Philippines?

Stake is a real company, Medium Rare N.V., licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority (OGL/2024/1451/0918), and the Philippines is not on its list of prohibited countries. It is not licensed by PAGCOR, so it's an offshore site with no Philippine regulator behind it.

Is Stake legal in the Philippines?

Not in the sense of being licensed here. Only PAGCOR-licensed operators and certain franchise holders can legally offer gambling in the Philippines. Stake's own terms say it's the player's responsibility to make sure their use is lawful.

Is the Philippines a restricted country on Stake?

No. Section 14.3 of Stake's terms lists prohibited jurisdictions such as the US, UK, Australia, Ontario and several EU countries, but not the Philippines.

Does Stake pay out to Filipino players?

Generally yes, once your identity is verified and you've wagered 100% of your deposit. Withdrawals go to a wallet or account in your own name, usually by the same method you deposited with.

Can I deposit on Stake using GCash?

Not through a direct GCash link, because e-wallets removed gambling links in August 2025. Most Filipino players buy USDT in GCash GCrypto, Maya or a local exchange and send it to their own Stake deposit address.

Is Stake safe to use from the Philippines?

The site itself is a large, licensed operator, so most of the risk comes from around it: copycat domains, fake agents collecting GCash, and APK files posing as Stake apps. Type the address yourself, deposit only from your own wallet, turn on two-factor authentication and keep your balance small. The legal risk of playing on an offshore site still applies.

How long does Stake KYC take?

It depends on how clear your documents are and how busy the team is. Upload a sharp photo of a valid government ID and make sure the name and birthday match your account exactly, then do it before your first withdrawal so a review never holds up a payout.

Can I use a VPN on Stake?

No. Stake's terms say using a VPN or proxy to hide your location breaks its rules, and it can close the account and hold the balance.

What can I do if Stake won't pay me?

Email Stake support within six months of the problem; it must acknowledge your complaint within a week. If you're not satisfied with its final decision, you can refer the dispute to CADRE B.V., the Curaçao-certified dispute service named in its terms.
