Nakakita ka na siguro ng screenshot sa Facebook: ₱100 na taya, ₱25,000 na panalo, walong teams na lahat tumama. That's a parlay. It's the most hyped bet in Filipino sports betting circles, and also the one people misunderstand the most.
This guide explains how parlays work, how to calculate them, and what the odds of actually winning look like. For odds basics, start with betting odds explained.

Parlay, sa madaling salita
A parlay combines two or more bets (called legs) into a single bet. Kailangang tumama lahat ng legs para manalo. If even one leg loses, the whole parlay loses. In exchange, the odds of each leg are multiplied together, so the payout grows fast.
In the UK and Europe, a parlay is called an accumulator or "acca." Same thing.
How parlay odds are calculated
With decimal odds, multiply all the legs:
| Leg | Pick | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Team A to win (PBA) | 1.80 |
| 2 | Team B -4.5 (NBA) | 1.91 |
| 3 | Over 210.5 (NBA) | 1.87 |
Parlay odds: 1.80 × 1.91 × 1.87 = 6.43. A ₱200 stake returns ₱1,286 if all three win (₱1,086 profit).
Compare that with betting ₱200 on each leg separately: if all three win, you'd profit ₱160 + ₱182 + ₱174 = ₱516 on ₱600 staked. The parlay pays more on less money, but only if every leg wins.
Ang totoong tsansa ng parlay
This is the part the screenshots don't show. Suppose each leg is a genuine 50/50 bet:
| Number of legs | Chance all win | Roughly… |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 25% | 1 in 4 |
| 3 | 12.5% | 1 in 8 |
| 4 | 6.25% | 1 in 16 |
| 5 | 3.1% | 1 in 32 |
| 8 | 0.39% | 1 in 256 |
| 10 | 0.1% | 1 in 1,024 |
And that's before the bookmaker's margin. Each leg priced at 1.91 instead of 2.00 shaves off value, and in a parlay those margins multiply. A 5-leg parlay at 1.91 per leg pays about 25.4 instead of a fair 32. That's why sportsbooks love parlays: the house edge grows with each leg.
For the maths behind converting odds to chances, see plus minus odds to probability.
What if a leg pushes or is voided?
At most sportsbooks, a leg that pushes (ties the spread) or is void (game cancelled, player doesn't start in some markets) is removed from the parlay, and the remaining legs stand at reduced odds. Example: a 4-leg parlay at 1.90 each becomes a 3-leg parlay at 1.90 × 1.90 × 1.90 = 6.86 if one leg is voided. Rules vary, so check your book's terms. More on void bets.
Types of parlays
Standard parlay
Legs from different games. All must win.
Same-game parlay (SGP)
Multiple bets from the same game, like Team A to win + Over 200.5 + Player X 25+ points. Because outcomes are related, books price SGPs differently and often with bigger margins.
Round robin
Splits a set of picks into multiple smaller parlays. With 4 picks, a "round robin by 2s" creates 6 two-leg parlays. You can still profit if some legs lose, but your total stake is higher.
System bets (Trixie, Yankee, etc.)
European-style combinations of doubles, trebles and accumulators covering multiple selections. Similar idea to round robins.
Teaser
A parlay where you move each spread in your favour in exchange for lower odds. Common in American football.
Parlay insurance and boosts
Sportsbooks often run promos like "one leg loses, get your stake back as a free bet" or "profit boost on 4+ leg parlays." These can add some value, but they're designed to encourage more legs and more betting. Read the terms: free bet refunds usually have conditions, and boosts may cap winnings.
When a parlay can make sense
- For small, fun stakes where you accept you'll usually lose.
- When each leg is a bet you'd happily make on its own because you see value.
- With 2 or 3 legs rather than 8 or 10.
- When legs are genuinely independent, not correlated in ways the book already prices.
When to avoid parlays
- When you're adding "filler" favourites at 1.10 to boost odds. They still lose sometimes.
- When you're chasing a loss with a big multi-leg ticket.
- When most of your betting budget goes into parlays. Long dry spells are almost certain.

Worked examples
Example 1: Two-leg parlay
Team A ML at 1.70 and Team C ML at 1.65. Odds = 2.81. Stake ₱500. Win: ₱1,405 return.
Example 2: One leg loses
Same parlay; Team A wins, Team C loses. Result: whole parlay loses, ₱500 gone.
Example 3: Push
Three-leg parlay at 1.90 each (6.86). One spread pushes. New odds 1.90 × 1.90 = 3.61. Stake ₱300 returns ₱1,083 if the other two win.
Parlay tips para sa Pinoy bettors
- Keep it short. Two to four legs.
- Each leg should be a good bet alone.
- Small stake, fixed budget. Treat parlays as entertainment.
- Don't screenshot-chase. You see the winners, not the thousands of losing tickets.
- Know the rules for void and push legs.

Correlation: bakit hindi lahat ng combo pinapayagan
Some legs are linked. If you think a strong team will win big, you might also expect the game to go over the total. Those outcomes are correlated: when one happens, the other becomes more likely. Bookmakers know this, which is why many won't let you combine certain related bets in a standard parlay, and why same-game parlays are priced with an adjustment. Trying to exploit correlation sounds clever, but books have spent years refining these prices. For most bettors, it's better to treat each leg as its own decision.
Cashing out and hedging a parlay
Many sportsbooks offer a cash out on parlays still in progress. If three of four legs have won, you might be offered a guaranteed amount now instead of waiting for the last game. Cash out offers usually include a margin for the book, so they're slightly below fair value. Another option is hedging: betting on the opposite side of your final leg to lock in some profit whatever happens. Both can reduce stress, but neither is free. Decide in advance whether you'll take a cash out, rather than deciding in a panic during the last game. See cash out betting meaning.
Parlay culture sa Pilipinas
Parlay screenshots are everywhere in Filipino betting groups. They're fun to look at, but remember survivorship bias: nobody posts the dozens of losing tickets behind each big win. Be especially careful with "parlay tipsters" who charge for slips or ask you to join paid groups. If someone truly had a reliable way to hit long parlays, they wouldn't need to sell it for a few hundred pesos. Some of these groups are fronts for illegal betting sites or scams that ask you to deposit through an "agent." Stick to licensed operators and your own analysis.
Taglish recap
Parlay vs singles: a season-long view
Imagine two bettors who both pick winners 55 percent of the time at odds of 1.91. The first places single bets of ₱100 each. Over 200 bets, she wins about 110 and loses 90, a modest profit of around ₱1,000. The second puts the same picks into 4-leg parlays. With a 55 percent hit rate per leg, a 4-leg parlay hits only about 9 percent of the time. His results swing wildly: long losing runs broken by occasional big wins. Over many tickets, he may end up close to the same place, or worse if he picks extra legs just to fill tickets. Singles give steadier results; parlays give bigger swings.
Responsible betting
Parlays are built to feel close: "isang leg na lang!" That near-miss feeling is powerful and can drive chasing. Set a limit and stick to it. If you find yourself building bigger tickets to recover losses, our responsible gambling page has free help.
Puwede bang mag-cash out sa parlay?
Why do bookmakers love parlays?
Because the house margin multiplies with every leg, so the edge grows as tickets get longer.
What is a same-game parlay?
A parlay of several bets from one game, priced with the correlation between them in mind.
